Curator and contributing artist Madeleine Peters said at the end of 2016 she sent each artist the same instructions for a visual prompt which was a 10x10 blue grid.
“They were able to respond to it in whatever medium they liked,” she said. “Some works have clear links to the grid, while others are more conceptual. There’s first time exhibitors mixed with professional artists.”
Peters said the artists were from the south-west, regional Victoria, Melbourne and Indonesia. Works in the exhibition are by Brooke Altmann, Liam Barling, Morgan Campbell, Alexander Francis, Reno Ganesha, Jordan Grant, Ruby Hoppen, Harrison Kewley, Simone Kavanagh, Jackson McLaren, Sinead Murphy, Danielle O’Brien, Madeleine Peters, Felix Pilling, Jordan Small and Phillip Ward. The exhibition opening kicks off at 6pm, with live music by Sodaeaves from 7pm. Brightbird Espresso is located at 157 Liebig Street. Enter via the rear car park or Liebig Street entrance. The exhibition will be open next week from Monday to Saturday, 10am-2pm.
