It is the 97th fatality on Victorian roads this year.
To the same time last year there had been 106 deaths.
It is only the second fatality on Glenelg Shire roads so far this year, according to TAC data.
It is the fifth death to have occurred on roads in south-west municipalities (Glenelg, Moyne, Corangamite, Southern Grampians and Warrnambool) since January 1.
The accident comes after Victoria Police assistant commissioner for road policing command Doug Fryer recently spoke out about his concern that speed limits of 100km/h on B and C class country roads were contributing to the road toll.
“Country roads are inherently dangerous when compared to metro,” he said.
“The speed limit (100km/h) is the same on a B and C class road and the only thing that stops you having a head on ... is a single white line.”
