The four-year-old bay gelding was always in the firing line and held on to score an impressive win, his seventh from just 13 starts.
The $2.40 favourite saluted by three-quarters of a length in the Mercedes Benz Handicap (1400m) from the Aaron Purcell-trained Guizot ($11) with Warrnambool galloper Plein Ciel ($2.90) another three-quarters of a length away third.
Gelagotis said he had nominated Moss 'N' Dale at two venues, but chose to come to Warrnambool with his rowdy but delighted owners.
"Really I would rather win at Warrnambool than in Melbourne," the Moe-based mentor said.
"These are real people, this is real racing. I thought he would have a fitness edge.
"He was not given much peace up front but he loves the heavy ground. The boys wanted to come to Warrnambool so that's where we came," he said.
Moss 'N' Dale's only concern was the gelding drifted significantly off the track down the home straight causing some interference to Guizot but the final margin of three-quarters of a length was significant.
Winning rider Anthony Darmanin said Moss 'N' Dale always puts in when racing.
“He’s a real trier, he gives his all. He travelled all right and really loves the heavy ground,” he said.
