Warrnambool Community Garden, the Tarerer Festival and the Port Fairy Folk Festival have been nominated in the 2017 HART (Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together) Awards.
The community garden has been shortlisted for its “indigenous recognition seat”, which was constructed as a way to explain the significance of the garden site for the Gunditjmara people. It was nominated in the small community organisation/group category alongside Tarerer, which was recognised for its work in sharing cultures.
The Port Fairy Folk Festival committee (which is nominated in the large community group section) was shortlisted for the opening ceremony of the 2017 Folkie, which celebrated traditional indigenous stories.
Winners will be announced June 2.
