The undefeated Blues will take that mindset into their round three clash with Portland after it served them well in their 47-35 win over Port Fairy on Saturday.

“We had good pressure on in attack and defence,” Cust said.

“We really attacked the ball and have a good physical presence on court.”

The Blues stormed to a 17-goal lead at the final break before the Seagulls clawed their way back into the contest.

“We’re still up and down and have lulls in each quarter,” Cust said.

“The last quarter was terrible. We lost the plot. They got 7-0 at one stage. We dropped the bundle a bit.”

Port Fairy coach Megan Titmus is confident the tide will turn the reigning premiers’ way after three straight losses to start the season.

“We have had five girls from last year leave the team so it’s a matter of rebuilding,” she said.

“We won the last quarter yesterday so that was positive.

“They’re a great bunch of girls and they know they’re not quite clicking yet but they are willing to work.”

Titmus said Berni Meade was among the new faces in the Seagulls’ line up who had lifted.

Meade has come up from division one to play a defensive role.

“I am running with a squad, open and division one, so we might try and few people,” Titmus said.

“It’s not an open and shut case just yet.”
