Coaches have replaced trains on the line for 10 days during $4.4 million works on the Geelong and Warrnambool lines. Trains are due to run on the Warrnambool line from Tuesday April 18.
The deck of a rail bridge near Terang will be replaced as part of the works, which will also repair sections of track and remove trees and other vegetation to provide clearer lines of sight.
V/Line regional manager Peter Gibson said 57,000 people had been transported by replacement coaches on the lines during the period.
“This is a massive $4.4 million program of works for the Geelong and Warrnambool lines so we’re working around the clock to get it done as quickly and safely as we can over the quieter school holidays period,” he said.
About 250 V/Line staff and contractors have been involved in the work.
