Nirranda premiership ruckman Heath Moloney comes across to the Kangaroos as coach for 2017, bringing with him Chris Crawley, from Woorndoo-Mortlake.
The Kangaroos have also secured the services of Warrnambool premiership defender Sam Wilson, Cobden pair Brad Rees and Harley James and South Warrnambool’s Leigh McKane.
“We’ve filled those key roles with older, mature men and without as many of the young fellas having to take on fellas twice their age,” Moloney said.
With the support of bigger bodies around the ball, Russells Creek will be looking to start narrowing the scoreboard gap as it aims for a healthier win-loss ratio this season.
“We’ve just got to be really strong defensively,” Moloney said.
“Just try to control the controllables, keep possession as often as possible.
“We’re just looking for them to take that next step, just take the game on a bit more.”
