More than 150 people gathered at Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre for the fifth annual event.
Australian film Tanna was shown to as the first of the festival’s five film program.
Bethany chief executive Grant Boyd said the festival provided the “perfect excuse” for people from the Warrnambool region to enjoy a great night out while supporting a good cause.
“The Bethany Arthouse Film Festival is off to a great start,” he said.
“Our audience numbers are growing year-on-year, and we are very grateful to the Warrnambool community for putting their support behind the festival.”
“By supporting the festival, local people are not only able to enjoy a great night of cinema but help us continue our important work in the local community.”
The program runs until August 22.
Tickets are now on sale from www.lighthousetheatre.com.au or at the Lighthouse Theatre box office.
