The festival has guidelines in place regarding areas such as seating and dancing at each stage.
The official festival program states that dancing is encouraged but only when space at the venue allows.
There is a designated dance area at stage 2.
The festival’s highest profile act, Paul Kelly and Charlie Owen, will play their only show for the festival in stage 3 on Saturday night. This show is expected to attract a full house with those wishing to see it encouraged to get there early.
Reserving places for extended periods is not allowed, unattended rugs and chairs may be removed.
Festival organisers ask people to turn mobile phones off or on silent while in venues.
Many people bring their own ‘Folkie chairs’ to the festival while others are happy sitting on the grass.
There is also permanent seating in some stages.
People who wish to store their Folkie chairs for a period can do so by placing them on the ‘Great Wall of Chairs’ which is located near the Campbell Street entrance.
The famous ‘Port Fairy Shuffle’ will also be in place. This shuffle is when the stage announcer asks the crowd to stand up with their chairs and move slightly to make room to let more people in.
