The Bombers, who finished second-last in the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League last season, will strive to improve their win-loss ratio under the direction Chatfield, who was an assistant under Paul Hrabar in 2016.
They have welcomed a troupe of new faces to their ranks and are looking to regain a junior program after rocky numbers in past seasons.
Chatfield has put faith in a leadership team of four, which includes co-captains Jacob Taylor and Tyronne Grayson and vice-captain duo Coedie Carter and Dylan Burns.
“The difference this season is that people have to earn their place in our team rather than just turning up and playing footy,” he said.
“We’re getting that out of our culture because we want the players to give back as much as they take out.
“We’ve picked up a few new faces in Dylan Cross (North Warrnambool Eagles) and Wayne Parry as well. “
