Branch president Aidan Nicolson said the event would be held on February 18, with participant registration from 9am to 12.30pm at the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club. Volunteers can sign up from 9am for a variety of “wet” or “dry” roles.
“We provide surfing experience for people with a disability, both kids and adults, and we cater for a huge range of disabilities,” Mr Nocolson said.
“The participants really love it and the volunteers get just as much out of it.”
Mr Nicolson said participants need only bring a towel and a smile to the free event, with all other equipment provided.
It’s the second annual event for the fledgling group, which got off the ground in 2016 with support from the National Disabled Surfers Association.
As the branch grows, it hopes to host events further afield such as Portland and Port Campbell.
