Newfield Valley Landcare Group is behind the first-time event, which is inviting people to get snapping in the Heytesbury district – from Princetown and Peterborough to as far north as Camperdown and Terang.
Group member Lyndell Driscoll said entries were already rolling in, with categories offered in native flora, native fauna, marine and coastal and agriculture.
“The photos will be exhibited at the Port Campbell Arts Space on March 11, 12 and 13, which is the long weekend, and the winners will be chosen by the community,” she said.
Heytesbury District Landcare Network co-ordinator Geoff Rollinson said the competition was part of the group’s involvement in the Environmental Improvement Program, funded through BHP.
“Nature and environment is something that not celebrated enough… hopefully this will get people out and enjoying nature,” he said.
Open, intermediate and junior categories will be contested. Entries close on February 20 and can be emailed to admin@heytesburylandcare.org.au
