The 27-year-old, who has spent the past two seasons at Warrnambool and District club Dennington, is tipped to spend more time across half-back, pushing into the midfield if required.
“I haven’t been in the Hampden league for a couple of years now – obviously it’s changed a lot,” Evans said.
“I’ve got a lot to catch up on. I’ll just try to get through the pre-season and go from there.”
Evans, who has played more than 100 games for the Bombers, said there was plenty of excitement around the club under first-year coach Levi Dare and with the continued emergence of its youth.
The Bombers narrowly missed out on finals last year but gave the competition plenty to think about with gutsy performances, particularly against top sides Koroit, North Warrnambool Eagles and Warrnambool.
“They way they’ve gone about it the last couple of years (has been impressive),” Evans said.
“They’ve got the run, they’ve got the youth. They pushed a lot of good sides last year.
“I feel they can push deep into finals and really give it a shake.
“With the youth they’ve got, they’re just so unpredictable, which is really good.”
Evans said he “couldn’t thank Dennington enough” for the two seasons he spent there, which included a flag in 2015. “They’re such a good bunch of blokes,” he said.
