WARRNAMBOOL swimmer Sophie Thomas reaped the benefits of competing in all three Shipwreck Coast Swim Series legs this year with a series win.

The third-year Marine Biology student, originally from Ballarat, added to her earlier wins at Port Fairy and Warrnambool with a comfortable victory in Saturday’s Twelve Apostles Plunge at Port Campbell.
“I was really happy with my swim today, it was a bit choppy which, being a surfer, I enjoyed,” she said.
“I did set myself a bit to win the series after missing the Warrnambool swim last year."
Melbourne-based swimmer Hamish Rowland, 16, matched last summer’s effort to take out the overall male win for the series.
“I have family in Warrnambool so I enjoy coming down as often as a I can,” he said.
“The conditions were good for all three swims. Today the swell was a bit bigger, but once we got through that it was a quick race to the beach."
