Amie Louise Kolosche, 28, of Scott Street, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to theft and eight charges of obtaining property by deception.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said she heard that Kolosche had a melt down and committed the significant dishonesty offences.
Kolosche was convicted, ordered to pay $678.48 compensation and placed on a community corrections order with conditions she undertake assessment, treatment and rehabilitation as requested.
Police said that between noon on October 23 and the same time the next day, a Toyota Hilux entered in a Crossley driveway.
A wallet was stolen which contained a driver's licence and NAB card.
That bank card was then used eight times to make transactions, mostly of about $100, at Centro, Coles in Lava Street, the Cramer Street milkbar and Premix King.
Goods purchased included alcohol, cigarettes, lollies, lotto tickets, drinks and gift cards for Coles, Bunnings and David Jones.
Police identified Kolosche through security camera footage and a raid of her home found sunglasses and shoes she wore when captured on camera.
When arrested, Kolosche made admissions but said she was not motivated by drugs or alcohol.
Defence counsel Alex McCulloch said his client's offending was opportunistic and unsophisticated.
He said Kolosche previously ran a successful cleaning business but being seriously injured in a dirt bike accident during 2015 led to the collapse of the business.
The solicitor said Kolosche had not worked since, lost her car, her children were forced to move schools and when she was away during Christmas 2015 her home was burgled.
Thieves cleaned out her house, right down to a fish tank and the food out of her fridge.
