Mortlake will no longer be without doctors, with Warrnambool Medical Clinic agreeing to trial a service in the town for six months.

From February, Terang and Mortlake Health Service (TMHS) will work with the clinic to provide the community with access to general practitioners at the Mortlake Community Health Centre.
“This is a great outcome for the community and TMHS will work closely with the Warrnambool clinic to build a good service for the community and ensure a smooth transition,” chief executive officer Margaret White said.
The town’s former medical clinic closed its doors on Friday December 23 as a working party sought a solution.
Ms White said the trial would help build the practice into a sustainable service for the future.
The Department of Health and Human Services has also advised TMHS that a $35,000 grant for refurbishment and minor works at the Mortlake Community Health Centre. Ms White said during Health Minister Jill Hennessy’s visit to Terang Hospital in December, representatives took the opportunity to inform the minister of the need for the works.
