A motorcyclist has died in a crash in Melbourne's north-east, bringing the number of lives lost on the state's roads this year to 275.

The death in Diamond Creek is the 50th motorcyclist fatality of 2016, an increase of about 75 per cent compared with last year.
The rider died on Diamond Creek Road near Old Diamond Creek Road at about 10am on Sunday.
Victoria Police is investigating the circumstances of the crash but could provide no further details at this stage.
The identity of the victim is unknown.
