Jarrod King will become the third Dennington Red first-year player to make his Western District Bowls Division top-grade debut this season on Saturday.
King, who will play alongside his father Darren, joins Nick Johnstone and Neville Swanson as new players to graduate to division one this season.
Allan Noone, James Barling and Brenton Webster are also first-year players pushing for spots. Darren King said their additions had given the club a boost.
“They’re all showing a lot of promise,” he said.
“We started all our new bowlers in division three and Rex Harris has been down there mentoring them.”
Jarrod King played in a 2015-16 Warrnambool and District Cricket Association division three flag with Merrivale before deciding to try lawn bowls.
He will play lead to Maureen Drennan in a rink which also features first-year bowler Johnstone.
“He is enjoying it,” Darren King said of his son.
“It’ll be good for him to have a go in division one and see what he thinks.”
