Hamilton police Sergeant David Walkley said the crash occurred in Casterton overnight Saturday when a driver went through a T-intersection and three fences and collided with a tree.
A 31-year-old Ballarat man was taken to the Casterton hospital with minor injuries after the crash at 12.40am.
Sergeant Walkley expected an almost new Holden Colorado worth about $50,000 would be deemed an insurance write-off.
"Investigations are continuing into the cause of the accident which could involve alcohol or other factors," he said.
"A blood sample was taken from the driver at hospital. He suffered minor injuries and was probably saved from more extensive injuries by air bags. Charges are expected to be laid in future.”
