The Hocking family woke up last week to find their beloved Clydesdale-cross, Daisy, was missing.
Daisy had been stolen from the paddock she shared with four ponies at the family’s St Helens property.
Daisy has been part of the family for 16 months and in that time 14-year-old Molly has formed a close bond with the horse.
Molly’s mother, Jemma Hocking, said her daughter was devastated.
“It’s just terrible, Molly is shattered,” Ms Hocking said.
“She is struggling to eat and sleep, she is just lost without Daisy. It has hit her really hard. Molly rode her every night after school, on weekends and took her to the shows and pony club.
“We just want Daisy back. There’s not much we can do except wait and hope.”
Daisy is a 12-year-old mare and brown in colour. She stands 14.2hh and has a white star on her forehead.
Ms Hocking said the horse’s striking appearance made her a target for thieves.
“She is an impressive looking horse and would be quite valuable,” she said. “It is so sad someone would come in and take her, it really has knocked us flying.”
We just want Daisy back. There’s not much we can do except wait and hope.
