Leading Senior Constable David Rook said the cash had taken flight after a Macarthur man left his wallet containing the money on the roof of his car on Sunday night and drove off.
Eleven-year-old Macarthur twins Kaitlin and Sophie Parfrey found $850 on Monday morning and their family passed it on to police.
A Macarthur man later handed in $300 he found in the same area, prompting police to do a search that recovered another $100 and the man’s wallet, which contained his details.
Later in the day, the twins found another $600 which was also returned to its grateful owner.
