A Trash and Treasure sale at the Brophy Family and Youth Services Community and Youth Complex will boast everything from furniture to electrical items, clothing and bric-a-brac.
Headspace regional manager Anne Waters said funds raised, as part of the Riding for Youth team efforts, would support suicide prevention strategies to reduce stigma and promote early help seeking behaviour.
Ms Waters said alarming youth suicide figures, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, reported in 2015 suicide accounted for one-third of deaths in people aged 15 to 24.
The Murray to Moyne Riding for Youth team comprises of Brophy Family and Youth Services, South West TAFE, and headspace Warrnambool employees who will participate in their fourth cycling relay in April.
Team member and sale organiser Olivia Edwinsmith encouraged community members to call into 210 Timor Street for an egg and bacon roll, a coffee or a spot of retail therapy from 7am to 11am.
“The cycling community are out on a Saturday morning and often go out for coffee afterwards,” Miss Edwinsmith said. ”We encourage them to stop by and support the cause.”
