Warrnambool identity Jim Turner, who has a 10 per cent share in the Mick Price-trained Extreme Choice, is recovering from pneumonia at Southwest Healthcare.
“It's heartbreaking that I will not be there to watch Extreme Choice run,” Turner said.
“I went to the Cox Plate last Saturday and got home and was crook, so I went to the doctor and the next minute the ambulance was there.
“I was really crook. I'm feeling better than I was but I will be watching the Coolmore Stud Stakes from the hospital.”
Turner has knocked back numerous offers for his share in Extreme Choice since his impressive victory in the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield in February and his unlucky run in the Golden Slipper.
“I've got no intentions of selling my share,” he said.
“He's had only five starts for four wins. I reckon he should be undefeated. Mick Price reckons he's the one to beat in the Coolmore. I hope he's right. I want to be out of hospital by next Saturday because I want to see Extreme Choice run in the $1 million Darley Classic on the final day of the carnival.”
