The Nirranda talent will have a 13-strong squad at her disposal for the December titles.
Mortlake duo Kira Firth and Maddy Goldsworthy, Hawkedale’s Aimee Bartlett and Port Fairy’s Sarah Cassidy made the final team.
“I was really quite surprised with the turnout for the under 18 girls considering it was a pretty ordinary day for the trial a couple of weeks ago in Dunkeld,” Townsend said.
“There is a lot of all-round ability and I think that’s a rarity in women’s cricket.”
Townsend said Firth was a middle order bat and first-change bowler, Mungean a big-hitting bat, Goldsworthy an asset in the field, Bartlett an energetic batter who chases quick singles and Cassidy, who was a standout at trials, a “strike bowler with beautiful technique”.
