Purnim travelled to take on reigning premier Panmure in a one-day game.
The visitors made 149 with Smith top scoring with 60 at number three.
Panmure was well placed in the run chase at 2-91 before losing a cluster of wickets to fall short after 40 overs with a score of 8-144.
Smith was the most damaging of the Purnim bowlers, finishing with 3-9 off eight overs.
