McLean is happy with Splashette's recent trial at Cranbourne but is wary of the opposition in the 1000-metre scamper up the Flemington straight.
"All the runners are unraced in the Maribyrnong trial," he said.
"It's really tough to get a gauge as to how she might go. She's worked well at home and went well in the trial but the race is a lot different.
“She's been in work for a while and has shown plenty of ability. With the race being up the straight it's added another dimension to the first starters - normally some horses are really green at their first run up the straight."
Ciaron Maher accepted with six runners for Sunday's big meeting, including his stable stars Jameka and Set Square in the group one $500,000 Turnbull Stakes. Swacadelic runs in the Bart Cummings for Warrnambool trainer Aaron Purcell. Darren Weir's Warrnambool stable has a strong representation on the nine-race program. Warrnambool stallion Palentino lines up in the $1 million Epsom Handicap.
