Mikey Billings, 18, also lost his licence for a month for speeding.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Sandra Skilton said Mr Billings had been in a relationship but had become upset that his partner became pregnant.
He had made comments that his partner interpreted as threats to the unborn baby, Sergeant Skilton said. Mr Billings had told police he had meant no harm but had needed time to think about his situation, she said.
Mr Pat McComish, for Mr Billings, said his client now felt better about the situation and the relationship with his partner had resumed.
Magistrate Peter Mellas told Mr Billings it was time he started to think about others than himself.
He placed Mr Billings on a good behaviour bond because of his guilty plea and his lack of prior history.
