Early warning and surveillance application available in the south-west

A free digital application is the latest development in the fight against pests and weeds in the south-west.

The early warning and surveillance app GrowNotes Alert – an extension of GrowNotes – is available online and can notify subscribers of bio-hazards, pests and diseases.

Agriculture Victoria said growers were actively looking for the diseases and pests in their crops, moving quickly to contain the spread.

Project leader Chris Pittock said there was an increased demand for the service.

“Over 4000 people saw our sclerotinia alert, with most hits coming from the Northern region – and a large number of those visitors clicked through for further information," he said.

“Critically, the system is two-way, allowing growers to upload photos on the spot, feeding relevant and immediate information back to our… experts across Australia.”
