Western Victoria Gayle Tierney MP said the south-west would receive a $675,000 contribution to Rocket Seeder – a startup accelerator program – as part of the LaunchVic initiative.
“(This means) startups and social enterprises in Warrnambool have every opportunity to grow and create jobs in the future,” she said.
Rocket Seeder will support motivated entrepreneurs with a comprehensive coaching program, connecting them with mentors, industry partners, and investors.
Ms Tierney said the funding would help to “accelerate startups”, “drive new ideas” and “create the jobs of the future”.
Small Business, Innovation and Trade Minister Philip Dalidakis and LaunchVic chairman Ahmed Fahour announced the first round of funding on Monday, August 29.
“We want Victoria to be the location of choice for (ag-tech) startups across the Asia Pacific Region,” Mr Dalidakis said.
“LaunchVic is making it happen.”
