Sergeant Callum McKinnon of Hamilton police said the burglary occurred at the James Dean Pharmacy on the corner of Foster and Learmonth streets around 10.30pm on Saturday night.
He said the thieves forced their way in through the front door.
“They’ve stolen a stack of medication, although we’re unsure what type of medication it was at this stage as it’s still being stocktaked by the chemists,” Sergeant McKinnon said.
The thieves also took $30 in cash.
Police is calling for witnesses. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Hamilton police on 5551 9100.
Meanwhile police in Koroit are seeking public assistance to catch a driver who sped away from officers in Koroit on Saturday night.
Sergeant Pat Day of Koroit police said a white Holden Commodore VT with a body kit and mag wheels was spotted in Commercial Road at 8.50pm.
When police did a ute-turn to attempt to intercept the vehicle, the driver sped off, reaching speeds in excess of 150km/h.
Sergeant Day said the Commodore overtook a number of slower cars and travelled at “an extremely fast rate through Kirkstall”.
It was later spotted by police at Penshurst and had reached Tarrington by 9.25pm. Police are keen to speak to witnesses, who should call Koroit police
