Black Heart Bart – who won the $500,000 Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville on May 21 – has impressed Weir's Warrnambool foreman Jarrod McLean with his work since victory.
"We gave Black Heart Bart an 800-metre gallop on the course proper at Warrnambool on Monday," McLean said.
"His work was strong in very heavy ground.”
McLean said the five-year-old had thrived in Warrnambool since his Goodwood victory.
"We've had him down at the beach and at the dunes to keep him ticking over," he said.
Black Heart Bart, who was heavily-backedto win the Goodwood Handicap, is rated a $5.50 chance in the early batting markets on the Stradbroke Handicap.
