Purcell has until the scratching deadline of 7am to decide if Swacadelic lines up against Darren Weir's three runners, Falago, Master Zephyr and Master Of Arts.
Gai Waterhouse's Cafe Society and the Robert Smerdon-trained Ungrateful Ellen are among the leading contenders.
"I'll make my mind up after walking the track, with any luck it might not be too bad," Purcell said.
"We've drawn barrier 15 which is not ideal but it's not my greatest concern. The wide barrier may be a blessing in disguise.
“I would have preferred a barrier from seven to about 10 but I don't have that. I suppose with a scratching or two we may come in a couple."
Smerdon said Ungrateful Ellen had been unlucky at her last run in the Terang Cup.
"She had no luck in the Terang Cup when she was caught wide," the Caulfield-based trainer said.
"Her win before that was strong. She's got some pretty handy form next to her name when you have a close look at it but Weir's runners will be hard to beat."
Weir, who is attempting to win his third consecutive Warrnambool Cup, said he had targetted his three runners at the listed race.
"They were all going good so the Warrnambool Cup was the main option for them at this stage of their campaigns," Victoria's leading trainer said.
"I'm happy with how they are leading into the race. I really can't split them but in saying that Falago is a superior wet tracker. The conditions should really suit him.
“Master Zephyr has not put a foot wrong in this campaign and Master Of Arts had a good win in Adelaide last time."
Weir's two cup winners were Akzar in 2014 and Tall Ship last year.
TAB had Master Zephyr a $3 top-pick at fixed odds on Wednesday, ahead of the Shaun Mathrick-trained Adirondack at $7.
In a wide open market, Master Of Arts was on the third line at $7.50 with Swacadelic and Falago at $9.50.
