Now in its ninth year, the annual event will again be led by guest conductor Angus Christie.
WSO president John MacInnes said it was a great thrill for the orchestra to again work with the Hamilton musician.
“He has chosen a gala program that will delight audiences of all ages, with vocal and instrumental solos and orchestral works,” MacInnes said.
Sunday’s program will include The Moon by Port Fairy’s Laura Thompson and The Collect by Warrnambool’s Dr Ken Stott, with the latter being a selection from Stott’s cantata The Day Is Ended.
There will also be performances of Rossini’s William Tell Overture and Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance, plus works from Handel, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Fauré, Vivaldi and more.
The WSO performs at St Joseph’s Church in Warrnambool on Sunday from 2.30pm.
