Damaging winds with gusts up to 100km/h are set to hit south-west Victoria on Tuesday as part of a cold front that will send a chill through Warrnambool’s May Racing Carnival crowds.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning on Monday morning for much of the state, including the south-west.
The winds are expected to be around 50km/h, with gusts reaching 90-100km/h.
The wild weather is set to develop in the south-west early on Tuesday morning before travelling east, where peak wind gusts of 110km/h may occur in Victoria’s alpine region.
The winds are likely to ease on Tuesday afternoon.
Showers are forecast for every day of race week in Warrnambool except Monday, with temperatures predicted to drop to a minimum of 10 degrees on Wednesday and Friday.
Thursday and Saturday are forecast to reach a maximum temperature of 21 degrees.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around their house, yard and balcony.
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
