For the first time in the directories’ history, the phone books are supporting national animal welfare charity PetRescue.
The 2016 Warrnambool book covers feature Warrnambool RSPCA animal care centre supervisor Tracey Scott, alongside her best friends Ruff the Kelpie and Kathy the Blue Heeler.
Inside the phone book is a guide for readers on how to find a new animal best friend, as well as information on PetRescue and the work they do.
Mrs Scott is is a strong believer that there is a home for every rescue pet.
“I’m often asked if I find it challenging dealing with lost or surrendered animals, and to be perfectly honest, it absolutely is,” she said.
“But none of that matters the moment you see the joy on the animals’ faces as they realise that they’ve been reunited or have found new, loving families to spend their days with.
“The work that we do at RSPCA Warrnambool is as much about education as it is caring for and re-homing pets, and it really does provide the best outcomes – the less animals we see coming in to our facility for re-homing, the more we know that we’re doing our job well.”
Mrs Scott said the RSPCA was like a matchmaking service for people and animals.
“Give an animal a second chance,” she said.
“We match up the animals with people and hope for a perfect fit.”
She has worked at the Warrnambool shelter for 10 years.
“We currently have about 80 cats, dogs, kittens, puppies and rabbits up for adoption,” Mrs Scott said.
Sensis spokesperson Stephen Harvy said the Yellow Pages and White Pages books were a staple of community connectivity.
“Working with PetRescue to launch our Warrnambool Yellow Pages and White Pages book is a fitting way to bring together local businesses and residents with their favourite and furry local friends – pets,” he said.
