He will make his long-awaited return to Warrnambool on Saturday night when he performs at Highline Bar & Lounge.
It will be his first gig in Warrnambool since playing at Flagstaff Hill’s Day On The Hill in 2007.
Saturday’s gig is part of a busy 2016 for Braithwaite, with the 67-year-old showing no signs of slowing down.
He has his own shows booked around the country until the end of March, and then in May he joins the APIA Good Times Tour.
It will see him play 16 dates around Australia with Kate Ceberano, Jon Stevens and John Paul Young.
Braithwaite’s most recent release was the 2013 mini-album Forever The Tourist, which cracked the ARIA top 50 – the first of his studio albums to do so since 1993’s Taste The Salt.
Over his career, the singer has had 15 top 50 singles, including two #1s – the 1974 track You’re My World and his best known song, 1991’s The Horses.
Alongside his solo success, Braithwaite was the frontman of Sherbet, one of Australia’s most successful bands. Sherbet had a string of hit singles in Australia, peaking with the much-loved Howzat. After a short hiatus they also enjoyed some success in the US as The Sherbs, before calling it a day in 1984.
The band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1990 and are credited with being the first Australian act to sell a million dollars worth of records in Australia.
