Kelson, with a handicap of 10, had six wins, holding off Lismore’s Peter Burke in a last match that drew a lot of excitement as both men had five wins in the lead-up.
The annual tournament drew 27 players from as far as Bendigo, Melbourne, Horsham and Penola, as well as many from the south-west, including Warrnambool, Lismore, Koroit, Terang and Warrnambool.
The competition was divided into three sections and seven games were played over the three days of competition.
Geelong’s Bob Roycroft, with a handicap of one, took out the handicaps 1-7 section with seven wins, with Ballarat’s Brian Reither (on three) the runner-up with six wins.
Melbourne’s Mark Wilson took out the handicaps 16-20 section, with a handicap of 20, while Portland’s Meg Gallpen (on 18) was runner-up.
