Corangamite Shire is warning the public to avoid all contact with the water.
Lake Bullen Merri been closed since November and regular water testing is being undertaken to assess the health of lakes across the shire.
Blue green algae concentrations are currently considered safe at Deep Lake and Lake Tooliorook.
Blue green algae can cause health problems for people and animals. Symptoms after exposure can include skin irritation, nausea and vomiting. Algae blooms are common in some Corangamite lakes in warmer weather.
