The South West Coast by-election candidate is calling for extra passing lanes along the Hopkins and Hamilton highways as part of his roads platform.
“There’s been a lot of talk about the Princes Highway, which is in bad shape, but there are other roads falling apart too,” Mr Doukas said.
“I am calling for extra passing lanes between Warrnambool and Mortlake as well as between Geelong and Mortlake. It’s a major highway for the south west yet it’s been ignored years.”
Mr Doukas said his by-election rivals had spoken in vague terms about road funding. “The government won’t spend anything on roads if a Coalition candidate wins,” he said.
