AARON Gillin may have hung up the headphones on his 3WAY FM show, but he won’t be forgotten at the station for a long time.

Gillin was inducted into the Warrnambool community station’s hall of fame at last week’s Mona Awards, which recognise the best and most popular shows of the year.
Gillin hosted Azza’s Half Hour for five and a half years, with the show highlighting the history and music of a featured artist or album each fortnight.
The 22-year-old said he was deeply touched by being inducted into the hall of fame.
“It was amazing to get that,” he said.
“I was totally shocked. There’s not many people in there apparently so it’s an honour to be included in it.”
Gillin, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, said he’s largely confined to bed these days and the amount of time and effort required to put the show together had become too much.
“I’d pre-record it all and put it on a CD and they’d play it for me,” he said.
“It was a fair bit of work to do the research and put it together. My disability slows me down a bit more as I get older.”
Gillin thanked 3WAY FM secretary John MacInnes for his support and encouragement over the years.
The old episodes of Azza’s Half Hour are being uploaded onto a Facebook page, and Gillin and his brother Christopher still keep busy running the Australian fan page for Kid Rock.
The brothers were personally invited to manage the page after meeting Kid Rock last year.
