Cr Neoh told The Standard his exposure to state level politics over the past five years has accelerated his interest. “I feel I’ve got a really good insight into it,” Cr Neoh said.
“All people aspiring to state politics would be looking at it, myself included.
“The Liberal Party will have to go through that process now.”
Three other city councillors with known party affiliations – Jacinta Ermacora, Peter Hulin and Peter Sycopoulis – all ruled out making a tilt for the seat. Cr Ermacora, who was on the Labor Party’s upper house ticket at last year’s state election, said running “wasn’t on her list”.
Cr Sycopoulis, a former vice president of the Liberal Party’s Warrnambool branch, said he wasn’t interested.
Cr Hulin, who said he was persuaded to re-join the Liberal Party, also ruled himself out of the race.
