The band placed first in the Freeza Push Start Warrnambool heat at the Lighthouse Studio, earning a spot in the regional final in Geelong later this year.
Second place went to Warrnambool rock band The Mellows while acoustic trio Tiosav Joy finished third.
The event was also a win for Emmanuel College’s VET music program.
While the musicians attend different Warrnambool high schools, each of the nine acts had a member who was a current or past student in Emmanuel’s music course.
“The VET music course is about offering students real world performance opportunities and events such as the battle of the bands are a great example of that,” Emmanuel College’s head of performing arts Nick Frampton said.
“(The battle) teaches them some really good skills in organisation and working to deadlines but more importantly, it’s just a really good opportunity to perform.”
