The 2015 Kennedys Creek Music Festival announced the majority of its line-up this week, with tickets expected to go on sale next week.
An additional three headline acts are also expected to be announced next week.
The much-loved event is capped at 1000 people and takes place in the grounds of the Kennedys Creek Hall, which is located about 15km south of Simpson.
The overnight camping festival is organised and run by the local community, with all profits going back into the upkeep of the hall.
The line-up traditionally boasts a blend of south-west talent with great national acts, and this year is no exception.
Warrnambool alt-rock trio Blackwood Jack, Melbourne folk group Rough River, south-west-connected indie-pop band The Harlots, and Great Ocean Road indie group Brother James are all returning to the festival, having impressed the audience and organisers alike in previous years.
Warrnambool shoegazers Cove and Cobden rockers Crossfire Hurricane round out the local line-up.
Also on the bill is psych-country band The Immigrant Union, which is the side project of Dandy Warhols drummer Brent DeBoer. The group were recently in the south-west, launching their latest album Anyway at The Loft in Warrnambool.
The Melbourne contingent features post-punk art-rockers Mangelwurzel, psych-rockers Spiral Arm, rock’n’rollers Sheriff, and folk group Forever Son.
Completing the bill (until next week’s headliners are announced) are Geelong stoner rockers Orb, Gold Coast psychedelic quartet Tsun, and Gold Coast troubadour Karl S. Williams (who happens to also be a member of Tsun).
In other festival news, the Queenscliff Music Festival has just bolstered its line-up by adding some international names.
Bluesy Americans The California Honeydrops and award-winning Canadian Ron Sexsmith will be joined by a host of New Zealanders – dub reggae act Trinity Roots, indie-pop singer-producer Estère, soul singer Hollie Smith, singer-songwriter Louis Baker, and lap steel player Thomas Oliver – at the festival on November 27-29.
They join the likes of Augie March, Cookin’ On 3 Burners featuring Tex Perkins, L-Fresh The Lion, Angus & Julia Stone, Hoodoo Gurus, Kate Miller-Heidke, Paul Dempsey, John Williamson, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, and heaps more.
