A WARRNAMBOOL father aged in his 40s was bashed unconscious and robbed in the front yard of his Laverock Road home on Thursday night.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Bourke, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said it appeared the man was unconscious for four hours before he reported the robbery to police soon after 10.30pm.
He said victim had put his young children to bed in the early evening and he went to his bank to withdraw cash before returning home at between 6pm and 6.30pm.
The robbery happened in his front yard and he can't remember anything before waking up dazed and reporting the incident to police four hours later.
The cash he withdrew from the bank was taken from his wallet.
The victim suffered a bleeding injury to his left forearm.
He was transported by ambulance to the Warrnambool Base Hospital where he was treated before being discharged in the early hours of Friday morning.
Detective Senior Constable Bourke said police officers were still in the process of obtaining security camera footage from the bank.
"This appears to be a violent and unprovoked attack. The victim has been rendered unconscious before 6.30pm and awoke dazed before contacting police soon after 10.30pm," he said.
"Anyone who saw anything suspicious at the south end of Laverock Road between 6pm and 6.30pm on Thursday night is requested to contact the Warrnambool CIU or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
