Daniel Gleeson, 30, of McGregors Road, unsuccessfully applied for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court and is next scheduled to appear in court on August 10.
Detective Senior Constable Lee Stewart, of the Warrnambool police divisional response unit, said Mr Gleeson was already on bail after being charged with unlicensed driving and had been due to appear in court on the same date.
Detective Senior Constable Stewart said bail conditions included Mr Gleeson not drive, report to police three times a week and obey an overnight curfew.
Police now allege Mr Gleeson was involved in pursuits with police on July 10 and July 12 which led to a range of charges including reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, dangerous driving while pursued by police, speeding, burglary and hindering police.
Police allege that at 9pm on July 12, police noticed a blue Hyundai travelling west along the Princes Highway near Conn's Lane, west of Dennington.
Officers did a U-turn and Mr Gleeson accelerated away in the Hyundai, narrowly avoiding a collision with another car at the intersection with Southern Cross Road.
Police then took pursuit and allege Mr Gleeson was travelling in excess of 150km/h.
Mr Gleeson crossed onto the wrong side of the highway near the top of Tower Hill and the vehicle collided with an embankment.
Both passengers in the car fled – one found in the reserve – and Mr Gleeson was identified as the driver.
Police allege Mr Gleeson would have had no view of oncoming traffic before the accident near the crest of the hill and he placed other road users at extreme danger of death or serious injury.
He has also been charged with breaking into the old Killarney Hotel and stealing a doona.
Mr Gleeson is also claimed to have posted a photo on Facebook on July 23 of a shotgun, which police have not yet recovered.
A search of his home also uncovered cannabis seeds and small amount of ice.
In denying bail, Magistrate Peter Mellas said police alleged Mr Gleeson had offended on bail, had a significant criminal history, was charged with firearm offences and the shotgun had not been recovered.
