Eight students from the city of Fukuoka, in southern Japan, are in Warrnambool as part of an exchange program with Brauer College.
They visited Warrnambool West as part of the school’s LOTE program. They helped the preps design hachimakis, a bandana which often carries an inspirational or motivational message.
Kaoru Yoshizaki from the Fukuoka Japan-Australia Society said it was the 23rd year a group had visited the south-west.
She said the Japanese students were attending classes at Brauer College and staying with host families.
The students will be officially welcomed with a reception and a city tour has been planned.
