The Hamilton born and raised Walsh lost his life in a domestic dispute early on Friday morning.
His old home town, along with the broader community, was shocked. Just a couple of weeks ago, a self-deprecating Walsh referred to himself as a ‘Hamilton bogan’.
He was proud of where he came from and never forgot where his life and football journey began before scaling the heights of the AFL.
Those close to him spoke of his energy, enthusiasm, passion and dry humour.
The Hamilton Kangaroos and today’s opponent Portland will honour him before the start of the senior Hampden league match.
The Standard shares its deepest sympathy to family and friends.
A minute’s silence at today’s match will give those present an opportunity to show their respect. It will also put the game into perspective. Winning isn’t everything.
