Jay, 14, is the only bottom-age player on the 10-player roster which will vie for honours at the Australian Under 16 Championships in Tasmania.
His selection in March came two years after a broken arm robbed him of a chance to represent his state at under 12 level, having made a School Sport Victoria roster.
The Warrnambool College student made the Vic Country under 16 team after impressive performances at the Southern Cross Challenge in Ballarat in January.
Vic Country starts its national championships tilt against NSW Metro on Saturday.
