Premier Daniel Andrews is flying high in two opinion polls this week with voters giving a big thumbs up to the new state government.
Labor is preferred by 58 per cent to the Coalition’s 42 per cent on a two-party preferred basis, according to the latest Newspoll.
If that wasn’t enough of an indicator, a Roy Morgan poll highlighted a similar trend.
Both polls examined whether Victorians preferred Mr Andrews as premier compared with Opposition Leader Matthew Guy. The Labor leader won convincingly after only six months in the top job.
The data will cause some frustration within Coalition ranks and Mr Guy knows his current low profile will not suffice. The Opposition Leader is set to visit the south-west this week and not a moment too soon.
Mr Andrews should also set aside some time in his schedule to visit. Brilliant opinion polls do not last forever.
