Group secretary Joan Williams told the council’s June meeting she understood the report had investigated a claim that the former council employee had engaged in serious misconduct.
She said the ratepayers group had received information about the claim after a person had “spilled his guts”.
Mrs Williams said she understood the Falconer report, named after the investigator who compiled it, contained a recommendation and residents deserved to know what that was.
“If the employee has done nothing wrong, we will respect it,” she said.
Cr Jim Doukas earlier this month backed the group’s call for the council to release the report, saying it would allow police to determine if charges should be laid.
Mrs Williams asked all councillors at the meeting apart from Cr Doukas if they had read the report.
“According to information passed to MRRAG, the alleged offending involved a number of people who may or may not have been shire employees,” Mrs Williams said.
“This inquiry is not going away – ratepayers want answers and explanation.”
Cr Doukas previously said if the report found the law had been broken, the matter should be handed to the police.
Cr Doukas said it should be up to the police to determine whether a crime had been committed not shire chief executive David Madden. He said the council’s decision to handle the matter internally “does not give confidence that what has happened has been dealt with properly”.
